Being fast is valuable in sport. A high number of the influential efforts in games and sport are decided by running speed and therefore it is no secret, if you are fast you have an advantage.

We have decided we are going to give you everything we have behind getting faster in this ultimate sprint series. Across the series of articles to come we will give you information on improving your speed off the mark, accelerating away from the pack and then burning the opposition when you hit your top speed.

Training for running speed is multifaceted. It involves understanding how to coordinate running (your technique or form), your ability to apply forces to the ground (strength, power and technique) and your explosiveness to run at your top speed (technique, conditioning and elastic power). For this reason we will talk about multiple training modalities to give you the extra edge on your running performance.
